Your vision, a vital sense, becomes life-altering when damaged, impacting both home and work life.  Our nuanced and empathetic approach, champions Laser Eye Surgery Compensation. Covering essential and elective eye surgeries, such as cataract repair and laser eye procedures, the service acknowledges the potential for mistakes and their devastating consequences.

Our expertise extends to addressing complications in cataract surgery, retinal detachment, and diabetic retinopathy, with an unwavering commitment to providing comprehensive legal support. Our ethos combines legal acumen with empathetic understanding, ensuring a supportive environment for those navigating the intricate landscape of ophthalmic claims.

Laser Eye Surgery Compensation

Eye surgery (or ”ophthalmic surgery”) may be a procedure that you need to have, such as cataract repair, or it may be something you have chosen to have, such as laser eye surgery or eyelid lifting.

Either way, sometimes mistakes are made, with devastating consequences. The most common eye surgery claims are for laser eye surgery (such as Lasik, Laskek, PRK and laser corneal re-shaping) which is used to correct long or short sightedness.

It can result in an improvement in vision but if performed incorrectly can lead to dryness of eyes, night vision problems and permanent eye damage.

Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is performed to remove a cloudy natural lens which has formed in your eye and replace it with an artificial one. It can be a successful procedure, leading to an improvement in your eyesight but, when a mistake is made, it can lead to deterioration or even the complete loss of sight. You may also have surgery for retinal detachment. When your retina detaches it needs to be treated very quickly, or it can lead to blindness. Mistakes are made when there is a failure to diagnose this condition, or the reattachment surgery is performed negligently, leading to long-term problems.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy can lead to permanent vision loss or complete blindness if not diagnosed and treated in time.

I only act for the injured party (Claimants). My specialism is working with people who suffer serious injuries, which may have been caused by:

  • Accidents at work
  • Accidents on public property/highways
  • Medical Negligence/Injury

Recent Client Matters

I have previously reached settlement for my clients who have suffered a range of injuries including fractures, soft tissue injuries and PTSD. Following an accident, a client’s day to day life is affected. My role is to secure compensation for client’s whose ability to work and earn has been impacted and to help them meet future treatment needs on a private basis to assist their recovery.

I am currently assisting my colleague, Ben Davey, with the David Fuller inquiry and compensation scheme, and we act for many the affected family members.

All the lawyers I have worked with at Dean Wilson are well organised and thorough in their approach.

A wonderful firm that has helped me from beginning to end of my case.

Their advice has been faultless throughout and the attention to detail when constructing statements and building my case resulted in a settlement that was on the high side of my expectations.

After our son had an accident at work resulting in life-changing injuries, we were given the name of this law firm to help us deal with the aftermath. Ben Davey and his team were efficient, friendly and caring and, after a great deal of hard work, we achieved a very satisfactory outcome for our son. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this firm.

Ben Davey and Tom Saady Gardiner supported us through navigating our son’s inquest. With the professionalism of Dean Wilson, delivered by Ben and our Barrister, the outcome of the inquest recognised the failings in our son’s care, which was the outcome we had hoped to achieve. Tom’s empathy and kindness was greatly appreciated over the course of the 5 day inquest. If you find yourself in this unenviable position then we would not hesitate in recommending Dean Wilson to help you navigate this overwhelming process.

My father sadly lost his sight due to a failure in the system in the NHS, from the moment we raised this with the team led by Ben Davey we felt in safe and trusted hands. Things were made easy for me to assist my father we came to very pragmatic conclusion to ensure my dad’s last days can be improved. Professional, supportive, timely, and kind would be my summary. Highly recommended.

I can’t thank Dean Wilson enough for what they did for me after I was involved in a horrific road traffic accident, followed by major surgery and long rehabilitation. Ben and Tom followed my case and patiently explained to me the legal intricacies of personal injury claims. They always replied promptly to my queries using easily understandable terms. They were professional throughout, extremely competent and, last but not least, very kind and empathic.
