Dean Wilson LLP have settled a personal injury case for a passenger in a car that fell 30 meters onto the A27, which was being driven by an uninsured driver.
On the 26th of November 2021, Mr R was meeting up with friends, and one of which suggested that they meet up with Mr S, who was not known to Mr R. Mr S suggested that the group of them go off roading in a jeep at a local park. The jeep was driven by Mr S (the Defendant) and unknown to Mr R, the Defendant was not insured.
Mr R was a rear seated passenger in the vehicle. The defendant lost control of the vehicle of the vehicle, and the vehicle was driven off the edge of the park, and off of an approximate 30m drop, landing on the A27.
Mr R suffered extensive injuries including serious spinal and abdominal injuries necessitating a stoma, and a brain injury.
The Defendant was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months in prison for the offence and was disqualified from driving for 5 years.

Mr R’s personal injury claim was pursued through the motor insurance bureau (MIB) as the defendant was uninsured. Ben Davey, assisted by Jessica Edwards, and Natasha Gunn, worked with Mr R and his family to obtain the necessary funding and rehabilitation Mr R needed to aid his recovery.
As the accident occurred on a public highway, the personal injury claim was actioned via the MIB and Mr R’s necessary rehabilitation was funded accordingly. This meant that Mr R could still be compensated despite there not being a valid insurance policy in place.
The personal injury team at Dean Wilson LLP obtained Mr R a significant settlement , which will enable Mr R to continue his treatment and the necessary rehabilitation on a private basis.
Dean Wilson Solicitors acted for Mr R under a no win no fee style agreement. The team can be contacted on 01273 032328 or enquiries@deanwilson.co.uk
