Six Figure Compensation for Severe Leg Injury in Road Traffic Accident

07 Apr 2022

Learn our successful case study on Compensation for Severe Leg Injury

Alex Brown has settled a claim for a client who suffered a severe leg injury in a Road Traffic Accident when they were knocked from their motorbike by the driver of a car who failed to keep a proper look out.

Alex took over the claim from another firm of solicitors who did not specialise in severe personal injury claims and who had not understood the complexity of the injuries they were dealing with as they incorrectly issued the claim and compromised the supporting evidence. There was no cost to the client for switching solicitors.

In the accident, the Claimant suffered a knee injury which required numerous surgeries to correct. During this period, the Claimant became dependant on pain medication which his treating specialists had failed to appreciate, and which was impacting on the Claimant’s cognitive function.

The Defendant was also seeking to allege contributory negligence for the Claimant failing to wear his motorcycle helmet correctly.

Alex successfully managed to get the Defendant to concede there was no contributory negligence on behalf of the Claimant meaning there was no reduction to his compensation. At a settlement meeting Alex managed to agree a substantial six figure sum for the Claimant’s affected career path following his injuries and for adaptations they will need to future properties to accommodate their injuries going forward and an allowance for future knee replacements.

Alex acted under a no win, no fee agreement for his client and instructed John Foy QC of 9 Gough Chambers.
