Dean Wilson LLP Settle High Profile Road Traffic Case

08 May 2020

Dean Wilson LLP have settled a high profile road traffic claim on behalf of the family of a 48 year old who was killed along with her partner when they were involved in a road traffic accident. The accident was caused by another driver who was 16 times over the drug-driving limit. He left the scene of the accident and was later arrested by Police.

Results from the case

The driver was jailed for six years, and banned from driving for eight years.  The accident however left three sisters without a Mother and Dean Wilson LLP pursued a civil claim for the cost of their future upkeep.

The insurer for the jailed driver admitted liability for the accident on his behalf, however they disputed the value of the case. The claim was disputed until after Court proceedings were issued when the insurer eventually agreed to settle. Ben Davey who handled the claim on behalf of the family said “whilst no amount of money is going to replace a mother, and those important future life moments that she will be absent from, the six figure sum agreed should help the girls get the best possible start in life.”

The team at Dean Wilson LLP are very experienced at dealing with sensitive claims such as these in a caring and sympathetic way. The team can be contacted on 01273 249200 and are always happy to provide initial advice free of charge.
