Following a successful pilot, the University of Sussex will be formally launching its Housing Law Clinic from mid October 2017. The Clinic provides free legal advice to members of the public on a wide range of housing law matters, with law students working with the benefit of assistance from members of the Landlord and Tenant team at Dean Wilson LLP.
Members of the public are able to arrange appointments by contacting Sussex Law School on 01273 876797, by email to housinglawclinic@sussex.ac.uk or by completing an online enquiry form found at http://www.sussex.ac.uk/law/clinical-legal-education/free-legal-advice
Those using the Clinic will attend a face to face meeting with students from the Law School and a Solicitor within the Landlord and Tenant team. The client will then receive a formal letter of advice within 14 days of the appointment.
The Clinic offers one off advice to members of the community but is unable to offer ongoing support and will not therefore be suitable for all legal matters. However the Clinic proved a useful service for several members of the public during the pilot stage and it is hoped that the service will continue to provide a benefit to the local community. Dean Wilson LLP is pleased to be supporting this local service.
