Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a divorce in a pandemic?

Achieving a dissolution of your marriage will not be affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore you can still get a divorce in a pandemic.

Dissolving your marriage, i.e. obtaining a Decree Absolute, is a relatively straightforward administrative process. You can make an application for a divorce online and there is no requirement for the parties to attend court.

However, bear in mind that you will also need to sort out your finances and possibly the arrangements for any children and these are separate court processes. In the absence of agreement court proceedings may be necessary.
