Health Secretary orders independent enquiry into David Fuller actions

09 Nov 2021

On 8 November 2021, Sajid Javid the Health Secretary, ordered an independent enquiry into the actions of David Fuller who sexually abused at least 100 bodies in the hospital of the mortuary where he worked as an electrician. The assaults took place between 2008 and 2020 in Tunbridge Wells and Pembury Hospitals.

The enquiry chaired by Sir Jonathan Michael will replace the internal investigation previously set up by Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust, and will look into any operations failings that allowed these awful acts to be committed. The enquiry will also make recommendations to the NHS about what steps need to be taken in order to ensure that this does not happen again.

There will be an opportunity for the families to make representations to the enquiry, and Dean Wilson Solicitors LLP are acting for a number of families in respect to this. We are also acting for a number of families in potential legal action against for the trust for their operational failings that allowed these crimes to be committed.

Families seeking legal representation should contact Ben Davey on 01273 249200 or bd@deanwilson.co.uk in order to have a confidential discussion.
