David Landers, Litigation Executive

I am a Litigation Executive in the Personal and Medical Injury team at Dean Wilson LLP. I have been working within personal injury for over 17 years and for 15 of those years I have been working with injured Claimant’s.

I really enjoy working with Claimant’s as I like getting to know my client’s and building a good relationship with them. Having an accident can be a very stressful and difficult time and I believe it is imperative to meet the needs of a client and provide them with the assistance they require during the claim process and obtain any rehabilitation that they need to get them back to their pre-accident position.

Over the years I have worked on a number of interesting cases. One such case involved an assault committed by a man who was on the pub ‘watch list’. The pub had failed to remove the attacker despite complaints of his presence and my client was a victim of an unprovoked attack causing him extensive and long-term injuries. I successfully argued the claim under Occupiers Liability as the pub was aware that the attacker was on the premises and should not have been there. This meant that my client was able to bring his claim through the usual Court method as opposed to be reliant on the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority, who have a much less generous scheme available.

I have also dealt with a mother and daughter claim involving a road traffic accident. The daughter had cerebral palsy and the accident exacerbated her systems and caused her much distress including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I worked closely with the mother to establish what additional care was provided. I also liaised with the expert and the daughter’s school in respect of the medical report as I wanted the expert to speak with her teachers as to how the accident affected her. This resulted in a positive outcome being achieved by the family.

I deal with a variety of injuries which can be caused by:

  • Road traffic accidents including cars, bicycles and pedestrians
  • Accidents at work
  • Public liability
  • Occupiers liability
  • Industrial disease
  • Medical negligence

I am a member of APIL (Association of Personal Injury Lawyers).
